Spicy Tasso Sauce
This sauce is an adaptation of a pasta sauce they used to serve at Cheesecake Factory (FANCY! We know). Think of your favorite pasta sauce - this is 1000x better. Creamy and herbatious, once spiced up with our Abuelo’s Secret Sauce, this goes great on your favorite pasta, rice, bread… basically any vessel that gets it into your mouth as quick as possible.
Serves: 4 | Cook Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
1 tbsp butter
1 small yellow pepper
1 small red pepper
3/4 small red onion
3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 cup sliced mushrooms
Abuelo’s Secret Sauce
1 cup low sodium chicken broth
1 1/4 pint heavy whipping cream
4 tbsp fresh basil (chopped)
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 package of pasta (your choice - we love angel hair)
Start by sautéing your onion and peppers in butter in a pot (this will be your sauce pot). Once they start to soften, add in the garlic and mushrooms and continue to cook until fragrant (about 3 more minutes). Dump in the chicken stock on top of all your veggies and get that warmed up. Now would be a good time to start boiling water for your pasta. Once that is warmed up, add in your heavy whipping cream. Add in a HEALTHY amount of Abuelo’s Secret Sauce - 2 tablespoons would be a good start, but live your own life. Once it is hot (not boiling, but hot enough you have to blow the spoon before slurping it), add the cheese and stir continuously until melty and thick. If you haven’t already, start boiling the pasta so it is ready when your sauce is done. The last step is to add the chopped basil and stir it into the sauce. Enjoy this pasta with or without a protein. It goes great with grilled chicken, sausage, and shrimp. If you are one of those meat-lover types, go wild and add all three (we won’t judge you). Of course, feel free to top with a little extra A.S.S. to really kick up the flavor and heat.
